Get Married in Florida - Frequently Asked Questions

We've listed some of our most frequently asked questions regarding our weddings below, if you have any additional questions, please contact us.

Is our marriage legally recognized in the UK?

Yes your marriage is legally recognized in the UK.

How long does the wedding ceremony last?

The wedding ceremony will last approx 15 minutes.

What kind of wedding ceremony is it?

Most of our weddings are Non-denominational and are performed by Notaries and Ministers.

Do I have to be resident in Florida for a period of time?

No, there is no residency requirement for Florida.

Will my photos be ready before I leave Florida?

As long as we have five (5) working days prior to you leaving, you should get your photos before you leave Florida. If not there will be a shipping charge (payable locally).

Are Gratuity/Tips included?

Gratuity/Tips are not included in our packages, you should allow for Gratuity/Tip for each booked service. A guide will be given to you at our pre-wedding meeting.

What happens if it rains on my wedding day?

All of our wedding venues have inside options, if it should become necessary to perform our wedding inside due to the weather.

Can you assist me in recommending a hairdresser?

Yes, we can assist you with finding a hairstylist, we do have some girls who will come to your accommodation and style your hair. They will require your hair to be washed and dried ready for them to style. Tip - Book before you arrive.

Is there anywhere in Orlando to hire suits and dresses?

Yes, we can recommend a local shop that will hire men's outfits. Brides should plan to bring their dress with them.

Can you recommend any nice restaurants for a meal after our wedding?

Yes, we have a list of restaurants or hotels that we recommend for after your wedding.

Do we need special Insurance to get married overseas?

We recommend that you take out Wedding Insurance that will cover your wedding attire etc. 

How many guests can attend our wedding?

Please see our wedding packages for details of how many guests can attend your wedding. Additional guests may be able to attend the wedding at an additional cost.

When do I receive the Marriage Certificate?

The Notary / Minister will forward the signed Wedding Licence to the relevant Court House. The Court House will post a certified copy of the original Marriage Certificate to your home address. The original Marriage Certificate will remain at the courthouse in the records office.  This will take approximately 4 -6 weeks.

Can we get copies of our marriage certificate?

You can obtain certified copies of your marriage certificate, each copy is currently $3.00 and this must be given to the Notary/Minister on the day of the wedding only. He will then send it to the Court House for you.

What will be the best style of wedding outfit for us to wear?

Whilst it is very much an individual choice, you should keep in mind Florida’s tropical climate. We recommend light suits and short-sleeved shirts for the Groom and his party. A light dress to give maximum comfort for the bride. Casual clothes are acceptable at all our venues.

What happens after we book our wedding?

Two months prior to your wedding you should return the a la carte options form confirming any of these services. A month prior to the wedding you will be contacted for the final balance. At this time you will also be asked for your full flight details, arrival / departure dates and your accommodation details.

Can you hire Kilts in Florida?

Currently there is no location that hires Kilts. We recommend you bring your Kilt with you.

Is there any better time to get married in Florida, due to the weather?

Rain and temperature are the biggest concerns in Florida. Some months hold more risks than others do. June to September have the greatest amounts of rain and high humidity and temperatures. January, April, October to December are typically the months with less rain and low humidity. Temperatures are generally not as hot. Hurricane season is June to November.

What happens if there is a Hurricane during our holiday / wedding?

In the unlikely event that hurricane force winds (as defined by the U.S. National Weather Service) directly hit Orlando while you are here, where possible we will endeavor to rearrange your wedding. However we must follow the appropriate authorities to ensure everyone's safety. If your flights to Orlando are delayed due to a hurricane, again we will try and rearrange your wedding. This offer is subject to change and may be withdrawn at any time without notice. Hurricane-force winds are as officially defined by the U.S. National Weather Service. Your rearranged wedding must take place with 8 months of your original wedding date. Dates will be subject to availability.

What happens if we are having a blessing back home?

If you are having a blessing back home and require a copy of your marriage license please let us know on your wedding day, so a copy can be made for you.

How do we transport our wedding attire?

Please check with the airline you are traveling with and they will advise their requirements.

Can we get our wedding attire pressed?

There are facilities for pressing wedding attire, however we suggest you try hanging it up in your shower, turn on the hot tap and close the door- this will cause a steaming effect and the creases may drop out.

Is music provided for my wedding?

No music is not provided for your wedding, you can hire our CD player or a musician.

Is it possible to preserve my bouquet?

Yes, it is possible to preserve, some if not all of your bouquet. We can recommend a company that can do this for you. Prices vary depending on what you require.
